Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible
ShopperHelper LLC, Ottawa, Ontarion Canada, is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: shopperhelperllc@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- Account info — your email, and name if your sign-in provider shares it, when you sign up with Google, Apple, Facebook, or email.
- Receipt images — the photos you upload to scan.
- Items read from receipts — product names, categories, quantities, prices, store, and date, extracted from each receipt.
- Shopping-list activity — items you add, check off, skip, or stop; your purchase predictions.
- Household membership — who you share a list with, if you create or join a household.
- Push token — an anonymous device token, only if you turn on reminders, so we can send them.
We do not collect payment-card numbers or precise location.
3. How we use it
- Read the items off your receipts and store them as your purchase history.
- Predict when items are likely running low and remind you.
- Compare your prices to store-flyer deals.
- Operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
4. Who processes it, and where
- The app and database are hosted by a third-party cloud infrastructure provider in Canada. That provider acts as our processor under its data-protection terms and only handles your data to run the service for us.
- An AI service reads the items off your receipt. The AI model we use runs in the United States, so receipt images and their text are processed outside Canada. They are used only to extract the items for you and are not used to train the model.
5. How long we keep it
- Receipt images are deleted shortly after they are read; we keep the extracted items, not the photo. (A safety-net expiry removes any stray image within 7 days.)
- Extracted items and history are kept while your account is active.
- You can delete a receipt at any time, which removes its items from your history.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete a receipt — in the app, any time.
- Delete your account and data — see Delete your data, or contact shopperhelperllc@gmail.com. We will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law.
- Access or correct your data — contact us.
- Turn reminders off at any time in your device settings, which stops push processing.
Under PIPEDA you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you have an unresolved concern.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Database credentials are kept in a managed secrets store, and the database runs in a private network with no direct access from the internet. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
8. Children
ShopperHelper is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be announced in the app or by email. The "last updated" date above shows the current version.
